I may be a modern gal with decidedly contemporary likes, but I also like to bring lots of vintage and quirky tidbits into the mix. I think I’m starting to expand my idea of modern, into that of unique. That seems to be the buzzword in lifestyle trends anyway: the rise of the individual. Kind of hard to do in a world where everything is available to everyone, isn’t it? The cool thing is, this . . . shall we say . . . philosophy allows for some amazing retail opportunities. Like, Poppy’s Closet. I found this new shop through their equally cool blog, Peter Piper Picked. I knew their blog was good when we featured the same 2 products in 2 weeks. Poppy’s Closet has figured out the whole individuality thing for you. I don’t know where they’ve found all these great pieces, but I swear I’d like one of everything in her closet! Including this Senorita Dress. Does it remind you of 1970’s never-taken trips to Mexico too? It’s filled with all the details I love in kids clothing, in a light and airy fabric that’s perfect for Birdie this summer. She removed the ribbon bow immediately, but her keen eye of fashion is fine by me (and the dress works well without the bow). Though it’s sized by year (1, 2, etc.), the beauty of a dress is that size is a relative term. Birdie, at 16 mos., looks comfy and cool in the 2 year old size now, and will look funkier this winter when we layer it over a T-shirt or under a sweater. Ah, kids fashion. Such a silly thing, but so much fun!!!
